The Warrior’s Foundation: What 53 Years Has Taught Me About Strength

birthday month May 03, 2026

There is a moment in life when you stop chasing strength…

…and start defining it.

For me, that moment didn’t come from business success.

It came from action.

From crossing countries before I was 16.
From stepping into a new culture.
From reinventing myself again and again.
From pushing my body, my mind, and my limits.

And now, at 53, I understand something I didn’t when I was younger:

Strength is not built in moments of intensity.

It is built in moments of consistency.

My life has never been linear.

From professional ballerina to law enforcement.
From entrepreneur to athlete.
From building businesses to rebuilding myself.

Each chapter demanded something different.

But every chapter required one thing:

The ability to adapt without losing who I am.

That is the foundation of a warrior.

And it is the foundation of every strong business.

The Lesson

Most business owners focus on growth.

Few focus on fortification.

But your business will never outgrow your personal foundation.

If you are reactive, your business will be reactive.
If you are unclear, your business will be unclear.
If you lack discipline, your business will reflect it.

The strongest businesses I’ve worked with have leaders who:

Honor their commitments to themselves
Operate with discipline
Lead with clarity under pressure

Because leadership is not something you turn on at work.

It is something you live.

“As is our confidence, so is our capacity.”

The Warrior’s Battle Plan

This week, reflect on three questions:

  • Where in my life am I inconsistent?
  • What promises to myself have I broken?
  • How is that showing up in my business?

Fortification doesn’t begin with strategy.

It begins with self-command.

Next week, we’ll talk about the most powerful force in any leader’s life:

Family—and how it shapes the way you lead.
