You Can Do Hard Things—Here’s the Proof
Jul 05, 2026Have you ever looked back at something you once thought would break you and wondered why it doesn’t seem so intimidating anymore?
A few weeks ago, while training in the gym, I caught myself loading weight onto a machine that would have intimidated me a year earlier. I wasn’t thinking about how heavy it was anymore. I was simply thinking about the next set.
That made me stop for a moment.
The weight hadn’t changed.
I had.
That’s what growth does.
The challenge often stays the same. The person facing it doesn’t.
I think we overlook this in business all the time.
As entrepreneurs, we spend so much time chasing the next goal that we rarely stop to appreciate how much we’ve already grown. We focus on what still feels difficult instead of recognizing everything that no longer does.
Think back to the first employee you hired. The first difficult customer conversation. The first time payroll depended on you. The first major financial setback.
Those moments probably kept you awake at night.
Today?
They’re simply part of being in business.
Not because business became easier.
Because you became stronger.
This is why I believe proof is one of the greatest sources of confidence.
Not positive thinking.
Not affirmations.
Evidence.
Every difficult season you’ve survived is evidence that your capacity has increased.
A Hard Charger looks for that evidence.
A Comfort Chaser only notices what’s still hard.
One sees progress.
The other sees problems.
The difference changes everything.
The Mirror
What challenge once felt impossible that now feels normal?
What does that tell you about the person you’ve become?
The Charge
Write down five things that used to intimidate you but no longer do.
Keep the list somewhere visible.
The next time you doubt yourself, remember: you’ve already done hard things.
You have proof.
